    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It's been great because I really enjoyed the work I was doing (science & research communications intern)

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I know I was doing something genuinely useful which they would not have had time to do without me so I feel like I made a valuable contribution

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was really supportive and positive and gave really constructive feedback

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • my task was on-going and I was not expected to finish by the end of my placement (writing researcher profiles) so although I always had plenty to do there was no time stress which was nice (writing researcher profiles for the website). I think the other internships were quite different from mine in this respect

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Not loads, although I was writing copy for the website so to some extent this is responsibility, although it was checked and signed off by my manager first

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think doing this internship directly contributed to me being accepted onto a masters in science communication, and I think the skills I learnt here and will learn on that masters are directly applicable to the career I want to have

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • really positive and a good work environment- everyone interested in science and discussing it all the time which I love

  • the internship scheme is very well established

  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for the company and the internship is a good place to start, but it is by no means a guaranteed route to a job

    4/5
