The Role
Whilst organisation of projects and accommodation could have been better, it would have been unrealistic to have expected everything to have been done for me in this area.
Excellent feedback from respectful and supportive colleagues across the business, from the Managing Director to my fellow students.
Plenty of support, however very little management. You are not micromanaged on the projects assigned to you, but you are able to (and expected to) ask for help when required. Support throughout was of good quality and value.
The first three weeks were almost leisurely as we were eased into the business and provided with training. However, the final three weeks of project management more than made up for that with very demanding responsibilities.
Whilst not the final signatory to my project, I was no more than one step away from the most senior manager involved and given a significant amount of autonomy. Weekly reviews were carried out, though I opted to conduct mine twice-weekly.
As it says: Skills for life. an invaluable experience and highly recommended.
The Company
They were all rather excitable in the Marketing department and the video development team were very relaxed.
Accommodation (whilst more than covered by my salary) was left to me to locate and agree rates with little insight from the company, though we intend to contribute to improving this. my project had numerous stakeholders with varied and differing expectations and I personally conducted much of the alignment, though this often happens in business and helped me to develop valuable skills.
Literally thousands of pounds of training, conferences and support.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
SAS UK very closely represents the type of organisation that I aspire to work for post-graduation.
The Culture
Plenty of time in the bars, pubs, cinema and restaurants in High Wycombe.
I was able to secure accommodation for £75 p/w and was no more than a few minutes walk from the local pubs, cinema, clubs etc. It wasn't excessively expensive and all covered by my salary.
Pretty good, but then everyone has different preferences. I'm more of an 'Ale down the pub' type, however there were plenty of venues in the town of High Wycombe.
All kinds of sports, such as Cricket or Football and other activities and clubs, such as the Photography club.
