    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • When I was given lots of tasks to do and had a busy day I really enjoyed it. However some days there was very little work I was able to do which left me feeling a bit useless!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Most colleagues were very friendly and happy to help me. They explained things well and kept telling me it was ok to ask questions! I was invited out several times for lunch and drinks after work.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Had a meeting with my manager half way through were we talked about my progress. As it is the summer holidays many people were on holiday during my placement, including my manager so I sometimes felt like I wasn't sure who I should speak to about things

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For quite a lot of days I had very little work to do. This was because many tasks would take too long to explain and as I am only here for 8 weeks there was often no point

  • was given the responsibility to email colleagues in different departments and offices.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • learning how to communicate with people in a professional environment and manage my time when given lots of tasks are useful for future career

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • many people were on hoilday in my team while i was here so I think the atmosphere was quieter than it would normally be

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Induction day in London was well organised. I had someone to meet me at the manchester office on my first day there and my desk and computer had been set up. I still don't have a working phone after 6 weeks!

  • Had training day in london, a few conference call training sessions and some online training

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • have been told if they are taking people on for next september I should be successful, however it is not known if they will be

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Had a few nights out with colleagues but not as many as other offices. It was a good amount for me and the commuting to work meant I didn't feel like too many nights out after work!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Was living at home and commuting in, £11 per day without a season ticket. Meals out etc were reasonably priced

  • Manchester city centre so lots of oppurtunities to go out

  • a couple of nights out
