Although glass manufacture is energy intensive, our products can make a major contribution to energy conservation and power generation. We are working hard to reduce waste, minimize resource consumption and carbon emissions in our manufacturing processes, whilst improving the energy saving capabilities of our products during their life cycle.
Our Group Environmental Policy defines our approach on environmental matters. In particular, it outlines our management of both current activity and the legacy of past and inherited liability. It reinforces our commitment to using good scientific principles to try to predict and assess our impacts on the environment, both positive and negative.
The NSG Group supports the principles of the UN Global Compact. We will spread environmental best practice throughout the Group and in partnership with others around the world. We are assessing our environmental risks and are committed to protecting the environment and preventing pollution. We will implement certified Environmental Management Systems to ISO 14001 in all our glass melting and larger downstream manufacturing operations.
