What is your current role?

I plan and execute Boots Media Group shopper led campaigns.

What has it been like working in your chosen function?

During my work placement at Unilever, I was fortunate enough to work in a B2B business model in a partnership with Boots. My role was focusing on driving category & brand growth by marketing to shoppers across the shopper journey. My main tasks included managing marketing campaigns to acquire, convert sales and retain Boots shoppers.

What has been the highlight of your placement?

I was not treated like a placement student but like a real employee—an important member of the team who has valuable work to do. After a few months, I have gained my confidence where my team trusts me in my expertise and I have made important business decisions that were beneficial to the company.

What have been your biggest challenges and how did you tackle them?

I have been given few different campaigns which I had to manage in the same time. I prioritised and planned a personal metric to facilitate choices based on strategic decisions and task importance.

What 3 words best describe your Unilever experience?

Fast-paced, valuable, purposeful.

What advice do you have for any future Unilever employees?

If you're going to be learning something new, you should never be afraid to ask questions. That's what you're there for! No question is a bad question—you just have to keep in mind that the person teaching you might not know the answer either. Be flexible and adaptable when it comes to learning, and go in with an open mind. You'll have some great experiences.
