    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A very enjoyable placement, being placed in a team and being given work that was valued and used by the team. It was interesting getting to know different areas of work within Accenture, and meeting people from different industries and backgrounds.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The work I was able to complete was added to the project, and as there was a shortage in the group at the time, I was able to gain more responsibility within the team. My colleagues assisted in my work, and gave me guidance when needed.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Weekly meetings, team talks, presentations and group training all worked together to ensure that I was guided sufficiently. I was given a buddy, who helped me whilst I was in the team, and lead members of the internship organised social events weekly.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Work schedules were varied, but I was busy for the majority of the day. There was always something that needed to be done, as we were working towards a deadline, but sometime you would have to ask for more work when needed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Similarly to the above, there is a natural limit to the amount of responsibility you can have when being unqualified. However, I was probably given the right balance between real work which was required by my superiors, and the safety net of knowing it was likely that someone would be able to check it fairly quickly for any glaring errors.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I did learn some valuable skills. Firstly, despite being fairly computer literate beforehand, I learnt a lot of specific skills (particularly in excel) which would probably help in a number of jobs. Secondly, having obviously had limited opportunities to do so beforehand, I gained an insight into professional working life.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As far as you can have fun doing professional work, often under time pressured circumstances, I felt that the atmosphere was very good. Being relatively young myself, the majority of my colleagues were recent graduates who therefore shared similar experiences and interests to myself, and so it was easy to get along with them.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised once I was placed in my team. Being assigned a buddy to give me work, and a manager that was able to help with my guidance and professional development whilst I was there.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of time and money, being able to complete online training and sign up to training that interested me. There was also the ability to talk to members of the training team about personal development in the future.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing prospects with development available from a very early stage. Progression was based on achievement and working hard would be rewarded. There was a range of members of management at different ages.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a strong social scene, organised by graduates within the firm, and also by the interns themselves. With at least two events each week, and a number of dinners included within projects and sections of the business.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being based in London, both living and socialising were expensive, but that was as to be expected. Moving outside of Canary Wharf you can find socialising at a much cheaper price, and the travel was worth it.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was reasonably good in the area, but much better when moving into different areas of the city. There were countless places to go out, areas to go for drinks, and restaurants to get food from.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a wide range of activities that could completed outside of work, that were organised by the company, and organised by the interns. Being proactive was key to getting engaged in these activities.
