The Role
I hugely enjoyed my work placement, I've grown a lot, overcame challenges and feel more confident in myself as a result. It has truly been an invaluable experience for me. However ultimately working 9-5 in an office isn't always wonderful hence why I'm not giving it 10/10.
To a huge extent. I felt like a valued and integral component to our team. At no point was I ever made to feel like "an intern", no coffee runs or mindless paperwork. My job was vital to the team during the period of my employment.
I was guided at the beginning and always knew who I could turn to if I needed help or support however I am an independent worker so this wasn't hugely necessary. My colleagues were very supportive and helped me wherever and whenever.
At times I was too busy, at times I've been bored so overall it balanced out perfectly. I think the times I was too busy suit my temperament as I do strive under stress and like to feel like I have a lot of things to do.
I was given an awful lot of responsibility for the area I was in charge of, especially because the colleague I worked closest with was of on annual leave for 2 weeks and I had to take over her responsibilities.
My time management skills, confidence, communication, use of initiative have all progressed rapidly during my time in the workplace. I feel more at ease at the thought of beginning a graduate career and think the 9-5 lifestyle will prepare me for my final year of studies.
The Company
In general my office is relaxed however I wouldn't say I felt the greatest sense of community which I've missed. I think there is room for improvement and at times I noticed strains in my colleagues relationships.
Very well organised, my internship placement and the process behind it (employ.ed on campus) is extremely well organised and an incredibly worthwhile programme. I cannot think of areas for improvement.
Hm, this is half and half. I didn't attend any training days or have any feedback on ways to improve myself however by giving me my independence and trusting me with great responsibility they did invest in my development in a roundabout way.

I have had my internship contract extended and in addition I will be kept on part time within the office in an other department. I also am aware that the office aims to recruit and keep student talent so I feel comfortable about my progression here but I'm not certain I wish to stay in the organisaiton.
The Culture
I have made some really brilliant friends, who I socialise with outside of work, with the other interns although less so with my colleagues as they are much older than me. However I have been out for lunch with my colleagues and we do chat in the office so it is not a non existent social scene but I was disappointed.
Edinburgh isn't cheap but I'm used to it. During August you spend a lot more money as the Fringe Festival is on. However I would say overall the cost of living isn't insane and at least it is cheaper than London.
The nightlife in Edinburgh is average during the year then amazing in August. We have a lot of nice cocktail bars and restaurants but the music scene and clubbing scene is more underwhelming.
I'm not sure what this question is referring to? There were sports events within the office which I chose not to go to. I have friends in Edinburgh so I was not stuck for things to do.
