    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects. In hindsight and comparing with friends' experiences at other companies I felt the structure allowed me to really make the most of the network within the bank. Each week was filled with events designed to allow me to explore accenture.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was amazed how much time and effort all individuals were willing to allocate to the interns. They were willing to give thorough introductions to their functions, answer all questions I had and were very happy to see curious interns returning for follow up rounds of questions

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I found that, especially in the less senior ranks, each employee had been through the recruitment process and was keen to hear about my experience so far and to add guidance where they felt they could help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Never a dull moment. If I was not doing work for my desk I was either at a meticulously organised HR event or spending tie with other business areas to get a better feel for the industry.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The level of workload, and hence responsibility, depended on desk allocations and individual preferences. For me, I found my workload entirely manageable while giving me the time to take on additional tasks. E.g. partaking in a bond pitch.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learned and developed are really skills for life. I will for sure use these skills in the future and I am glad I took the opportunity to participate in this internship.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The environment for working was really good. I felt the part of the office that I was located in was really good. The people around me were really friendly and always wanted to help with anything I needed help with.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The structure of the internship was well set up. There was a week of training and two 3 week desk allocations based on an introduction day we had in April where we met desks. The final rotation was decided mid-internship and we had some input as to our preferences here. There was also bi-weekly mini-rotations which ensured everyone made their way across the bank. The gem, I felt, were the Managing Director Introductions organised by HR. These familiarised us with senior management and gave the internship a very open feel.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was an initial week of training followed by ongoing excel skills. The week of training was just to get everyone on roughly the same level as there were a lot of non-finance degree backgrounds.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Definitely extremely appealing. I think the combination of the technical and social skills combined with the fast paced challenging environment make this a very attractive place to work. Moreover the people at Accenture are extremely open and care deeply about your success. And will definitely help you if you put in the effort on your end.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was great. I got to know the other interns through events and things like going out for lunch. I met some really great people during the internship which was great.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost was pretty high because it is in London, but manageable. Drinks can get expensive in a few popular bars.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was great with lots of variety. I enjoyed my time here a lot and would definitely return.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were charity days held, boat races, race nights and other themed events. With London also on your doorstep there was no shortage of activities. There are also some sports teams.
