The Role
I really enjoyed my year. I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing and intelligent people in a very interesting and pretty niche area, a chance I wouldn’t have got anywhere else.
I felt very valued by colleagues, especially considering I have not yet been to University. I was given more responsibility than I expected and also recieved lots of thank you emails and an official thank you which maked me feel really valued.
Lots of support and guidance from my team leader, technical mentor and 'buddy'. This was paricularly impressive as my technical mentor was on long-term sick leave for part of placement.
Quite an easy-going pace but always had something to do. Some parts were much busier than others.
More than I was expecting to get!
For me personally I think the interpersonal skills I developed during my year are the things I think will really help me through degree studies and beyond.
The Company
Really good, lots of team activites, including bake-off's, team meal, team activities such as laser quest and mod sports day.
Very well organised, I had no problems.
Was able to do evrything I asked to do.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Pretty appealing though would be better if they paid a little more.
The Culture
Yes, I think it depends on the indivduals but I had a fun year socialising with people from work. Really good social networking group which helped especially at the beginning.
Not sure about living but socialising in Salisbury isn't particularly cheap though it obviously depends what you get up to.
Not really any good clubs but loads and loads of pubs and a couple of fun bars.
Loads of clubs, sports events and social events!
