The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Shearman and Sterling. It provided a real insight into the day to day activities one would get involved with at the firm. All the employees were so friendly and couldn't be happier to help.
I got the impression that everybody in my department was really pleased to have the interns there, and they gave us worthwhile jobs.
The amount of support and guidance given did vary by supervisor however somebody was always there to offe rhelp if need be.
This varied from day to day. Generally, I always had something to do but I wasn't rushed off my feet. It was a good ease into working life.
Enough to go away and get on with a task ourselves and report back on completion.
Fairly well. We recieved a good amount of training on the internship - not restricted to 'on the job training' which will come in handy in this industry as well as others.
The Company
Fantastic working atmosphere. Everybody seemed happy to be there.
Very well set up. Everything we could possibley need was already in place on our arrival as well as a scheduled itenerary for the month long stay.
Recieved training in several areas to develop and practise skills.
Fortunate enough to be offered a permanant position with the company.
The Culture
Weekly drinks, that were provided by the firm. Also sports clubs etc that we were encouraged to get involved with.
Central London - Expensive
Right in the middle of it.
Encouraged to get involved in sports teams.
