About You
Great vac scheme with lots of real work to get involved with.
Having spent time in two departments, I found that it depended on how busy the particular department was as to whether I could do any valuable work for the team. However everyone makes a conscious effort to keep you busy and make you feel welcome.
My supervisors and trainee mentors were excellent in giving me clear instructions, and feedback where necessary.
My experience gave me a real insight into life at an international commercial law firm, and a real feel of what it is like to be a trainee.
The Company
Good balance between department presentations, social events and time in the office.
The atmosphere is generally dependent on the department in which you are working; however there was always a very welcoming, friendly atmosphere from everyone in the firm.
The firm invests a lot of time into ensuring vac schemers are made to feel welcome. Additionally, the supervisors and mentors take the time to provide guidance and feedback to any work completed.
The firm attempts to treat you, as far as possible, as if you were a trainee; this provides a realistic account of the day-to-day life of a trainee and allows you to feel part of the team.
The office is not huge so it is very easy to get a true account of the culture of the firm - everyone is very genuine and friendly.
The department presentations were invaluable as they gave an indepth account of the sort of work to expect to undertake as a trainee in that department.
Everything Else
Excellent salary which helps cover living and travel costs in London.
Vac schemers are encouraged to attend workshops and talks with other members of the firm, and people from all levels are willing to introduce themselves and talk to you.
Great mixture of socials, including dinner at Duck & Waffle and a cookery class, which allow you to meet a range of individuals from the firm and get to know your fellow vac schemers better.
A very informative, fun, and friendly vacation scheme - a great place to work.
