  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Great vac scheme with lots of real work to get involved with.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Having spent time in two departments, I found that it depended on how busy the particular department was as to whether I could do any valuable work for the team. However everyone makes a conscious effort to keep you busy and make you feel welcome.

  • My supervisors and trainee mentors were excellent in giving me clear instructions, and feedback where necessary.

  • My experience gave me a real insight into life at an international commercial law firm, and a real feel of what it is like to be a trainee.

  • Good balance between department presentations, social events and time in the office.

  • The atmosphere is generally dependent on the department in which you are working; however there was always a very welcoming, friendly atmosphere from everyone in the firm.

  • The firm invests a lot of time into ensuring vac schemers are made to feel welcome. Additionally, the supervisors and mentors take the time to provide guidance and feedback to any work completed.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The firm attempts to treat you, as far as possible, as if you were a trainee; this provides a realistic account of the day-to-day life of a trainee and allows you to feel part of the team.

  • The office is not huge so it is very easy to get a true account of the culture of the firm - everyone is very genuine and friendly.

  • The department presentations were invaluable as they gave an indepth account of the sort of work to expect to undertake as a trainee in that department.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Excellent salary which helps cover living and travel costs in London.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Vac schemers are encouraged to attend workshops and talks with other members of the firm, and people from all levels are willing to introduce themselves and talk to you.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Great mixture of socials, including dinner at Duck & Waffle and a cookery class, which allow you to meet a range of individuals from the firm and get to know your fellow vac schemers better.
