  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I learned on placement are extremely transferable and I know that I will use them in my future. I learned how to conduct myself in a professional environment, and also how to socialise with those more qualified than me. I am sure that I will reap the benefits of these skills in my studies and beyond.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We had a clear diary for our time at the firm, which was an excellent way to know what was happening, when and where. Most mornings we were given practice presentations, which was an excellent way to gain an insight into the general work of the firm. It became clear that Pinsent Masons is a greatly efficient team and I felt that the structure of the firm allowed me to fully understand the workings of a commercial firm.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Summer students are encouraged to get involved in as many social events as possible during their time at the firm. We were able to socialise with trainees, associates and partners at many different events. Outwith these events, every day people would stop in the corridor to say hello and ask how we were doing. Everyone was extremely friendly and made me feel like I had worked there for years!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a clear focus on allowing summer students to get the best out of the placement as possible. I was allowed to attend client meetings, assist at court and was given the work of a real trainee. This will be an excellent opportunity in my future development.
