About You
I really enjoyed all the teaching related sessions in the first week and loved my placement in the school.
To the extent that they really wanted us to apply for their graduate scheme.
A lot - all the sessions were really useful, but as there were 100 of us there was not really any individual support during the first week. At the school in the second week, however, I received a great deal of support from the Teach First teachers at the school.
The sessions on personal development and how to act in a professional environment will help in my final year at university and in interviews, and all the teaching sessions will definitely help me when I start working in schools.
The Company
Very well. Everything flowed well, but sometimes we could have had less time on certain sessions and more on others,
Fantastic! Everyone was so enthusiastic, willing to learn and really passionate about the charity.
The first two and a half days were solely personal development and self reflection sessions, so quite a lot was put into this,
The second week was in a placement, so for those 4 days we it was very similar to being an employee, but we were not given the same responsibilities.
Very much so - all of the sessions were done by people who had gone through the graduate scheme and were so passionate about it. I learnt a lot from that,
I learnt so much about the company and teaching itself, that it made me decide I definitely wanted to teach.
Everything Else
I was paid a little more than I spent on travel and other expenses.
Yes - we met a number of employees as well as each other - all potential employees.
Good, we had breaks in between sessions as well as organised drinks etc.
Not really - teaching takes over your life!
It was a truly humbling and inspiring experience - I would recommend it to anyone.
