About You
I enjoyed the whole two weeks. The employees of Teach First were amazingly well organised, helpful and fun. Teach First made each session, for the whole two weeks, enjoyable and engaging.
Throughout the insight programme I felt as though everything I said was taken seriously, and every Teach First staff member were more than happy to help me/give advice, because they genuinely felt as though I had something to contribute to the fight against educational inequality.
Sevim and Fiona were incredible, because they were there to answer any question and give me any aid that I needed. They were always contactable, even when we were in our placement schools.
My communication skills improved, having to take a Maths class on my last day. And I feel that I am a much better self-evaluator after the insight programme, which will allow me to critically (but constructively) analyse my performance at my degree.
The Company
Ran like clockwork. The timetable we received for the two weeks was carried out perfectly, and we never ran over.
Extremely welcoming, and I felt as though I could ask anything (even if it probably was a stupid question).
We constantly assessed how we can brand ourselves, understood what we are good/poor at, and we were able to build upon the competencies that Teach First pride themselves on.
The programme gave me a pretty clear idea of the hours and hours of work that will have to be put in if I am accepted onto the LDP. It took a few hours to do one lesson plan, so I cannot imagine how long it will take to do a weeks worth. Though it will be a leviathan of a task, I did not feel that I couldn't do the LDP.
You get a clear idea how passion and determination to end educational inequality drives each and every member of staff. They have an aim and all of the Teach First team are tenacious, and want to see it happen.
Being able to speak to Teach First ambassadors, learning what they are doing with their lives after doing the LDP, allowed me to make some firm decisions on my career path, in the short term.
Everything Else
I was paid £500 for the 2 weeks.
Constantly.
Pretty relaxed, and it was easy to chat to people in a chilled social environment.
We were able to uncover the complete paths of all the ambassadors who were at the programme, which was brilliant.
Definitely.
