    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • I really enjoyed my week at Shoosmiths.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

    • I felt very valued, lawyers at the firm would give me work to do which they would have to do themselves if they hadn't of given it to me. They would provide feedback for most tasks I completed for them and tips of how to improve.

    • Every question I asked was answered fully and the whole department was there if I needed them.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • The skills I developed here will help me in my degree and hopefully my career if I get the chance to become a solicitor. The information will also help me with making decisions about upcoming choices such as my LPC and hopefully about my training contract.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • Very well structured, it feels quite short as it is only a week but the reasoning behind this was explained to me and the reasoning does make sense.

    • Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

    • As previously mentioned the firm allowed its employees to give me actual work to complete during my placement.

    • It definitely gave me a strong insight into what my day to day life would be like working with this firm

    • The values that this firm holds are clear to see through the individuals they hire. All of the values you can find on their website and in the information they provide you are clearly upheld when you spend some time here.

    • Very valuable.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

    • Very good, I was given the chance to have coffee with the lady who oversees graduate recruitment at the office I was in. I was also able to meet partners in my department and other departments.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?

    • There were not many social chances during my time here, other then having lunch with some trainees on one day. Normally I just had lunch with the other person who was on the placement with me. I was only here for a week though and I can imagine if there is a social event that happens during your placement you will be more then welcome to attend.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

    • I did not find out much in this area, although I heard about a lot of sporting events happening.
