The vacation week at Shoosmiths was very enjoyable. I was given a variety of tasks from different departments including the graduate recruitment team. This meant I had to effectively time manage in order to complete all the tasks. Additionally, all the staff I interacted with were very friendly, making the office environment very welcoming.

I really enjoyed my one week placement with Shoosmiths. I was given really interesting tasks and really great support from everyone that I worked with and was provided with really helpful feedback on all tasks that I completed. The placement provided a great insight into the culture of the firm and confirmed that it was where I wished to pursue my legal career.
The vacation scheme was a really good insight into the practicalities of life as a commercial lawyer. I was given real work by different team members, other than just my trainee 'buddy'. This made it clear that I was being given real work with very real implications, rather than artificial tasks that did not actually mean much in reality.
The vacation scheme at Shoosmiths was a fantastic opportunity to observe the day-to-day responsibilities of solicitors, understand the challenges they face and gain an overall insight into the profession. I thoroughly enjoyed the insight because I was able to talk to partners, senior associates, paralegals, legal executives and trainees about their time at the firm. They gave me great advice which I can draw on in the future.
I had a fantastic week at Shoosmiths. Everybody that I met was very welcoming and the team that I sat with went out of their way to help me get the most out of the week. My week at Shoosmiths has been thoroughly enjoyable. Everyone here has been so friendly and welcoming, and I feel I got a true insight into what life as a solicitor is like. Compared to previous placements I have had too, I have felt truly looked after and it has been well-organized. The culture of Shoosmiths is as good as their website makes it out to be, and that is not true for many law firms.
Excellent insight into the law firm, through the 1 week vacation scheme. Candidates are given the opportunity to choose their preferences of which department they'd like to work in, however, your Host (a trainee solicitor) will encourage you to speak to other departments and ask questions about other areas of work. I enjoyed learning more about how the firm sticks to it's values and the workload expected of trainees.
I really enjoyed my time at Shoosmiths. It has simply cemented my desire to work for such an inclusive and caring firm where everybody is very welcoming. I have learnt a lot about myself and feel I have thoroughly thrown myself into every opportunity or task presented to me.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement. The opportunity to get involved in real work and learn was effectively balanced with the opportunity to show my own capabilities. Every person in the firm was approachable and willing to answer questions that I asked. I felt well supported and enjoyed getting to be a part of a firm with such a lovely culture.
I had a brilliant time on the Shoosmiths Summer Vacation Placement. I honestly enjoyed it to a far greater extent than I was expecting, and much of that was due to the friendly staff and the variety of different tasks I was set throughout the week. As well as this, the social events throughout the week were a great opportunity to get to know the people I was working with in a more informal setting.
I really enjoyed my placement at Shoosmiths Solicitors as it gave me a real insight into what a solicitor does. It also allowed me to see the practical side of law. Shoosmiths were extremely helpful and supportive of my studies as well as making sure I was happy at the placement.
Very much so - I felt treated like a real employee and exposed to the work in a really natural way. I was kept busy and able to get involved in a real range of cases. The people were friendly and very welcoming and happy to answer any questions I had about the work or the firm in general.
I really enjoyed the summer placement. I sat in the Commercial department and felt welcomed straight away. I was given real work to do along with tasks set by graduate recruitment. I went to lunch each day with trainees and got a real insight into Shoosmiths. The week provided me with an insight into the working culture of Shoosmiths and solidified my decision to work in a national law firm.
