    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed every minute at Vauxhall, kept busy and the people that I have worked with I could not fault!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt a major part of the HR team and not just as 'an undergraduate', which I think was most important. therefore I felt that my views were always listened to. All of my colleagues in my deparment made made feel so welcome and comfortable and also the colleagues on a plant level - very sad to leave! :(

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Always given support when I asked for it. I attended weekly team meetings with my manager and also monthly HR department meetings led by the personnel plant manager, consequently I was always able to ask for guidance face to face with such a strong communication line. As we are launcing the New Astra and the workload of the HR department is immense, I understand that my manager is very busy but I took this as a positive as it made me overcome slight issues on my own when at first I might have thought I could not do it.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy from day one of the placement. At times hard work but utilising my year out was an essential part of my placement search so perfect for me!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I believe that the best way to summarise what Vauxhall offers for a placement is definitely the word responsible. Before this placement, I could not have ever predicted or hoped for the amount of jobs that have been my responsibility before I started. With that, I am very thankful as I believe I have grown overtime, learnt to make decisions on my own and it has hopefully prepared me for future employability.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Lots of skills, for University I have improved immensley on my presentation skills, confidence and drive to receive the best degree I can by having an insight into what working life is at successful organisation (so must work hard!) Life long skills for the future would definitely be receiving the General Motors Transformers Award for my contribution to help employee 300 new production operators, without Vauxhall this recognition could not have happened.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Hardworking, upbeat, friendly, good humour and positive attitudes!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Was organised with a two week handover period from the current undergraduate I was replacing.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As we are only here for a year I do understand that a lot of training cannot be offered but I still felt it was adequate for the year out in industry.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

  • Very!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, a group of 20 undergraduates we went out monthly for each individual birthday which eased the change from University to working life and felt that the social scene from University was still apparant!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living is reasonable and by being in such a good location near to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, socialising is more than adequate!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As being local I enjoy the nightlife of being so close to major cities such as Liverpool and Manchester so personally cannot complain!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities with the undergraduates and also with some CSR activities.

    3/5
