    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Genuinely enjoyed my placement more than I ever thought I would. The role I had gave great responsibility and workload which was perfect for personal development and being able to excel in multiple areas. The team and wider team are one big family and brings together the experience between professional and personal relationships.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt like one of the family, and this was from very early on too. There was little time before I felt like a vital cog in the team, not only welcoming on a personal level but job responsibilities were valuable and therefore felt important. The well-established brand would be nothing without the employees who are very loyal to the business and it's performance creating a family.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and guidance from my line manager and my team manager was second to none. With weekly one to one sit downs to discuss workload and any problems as well as consistent communication and feedback helped my develop a lot. With very transparent communication it was very easy to develop personally, being able to work on areas in my practice on a daily basis.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My job had a lot of responsibility and a busy workload came with it. I love being busy and therefore was never an issue with me. Being busy made days and weeks go very quickly but also developed my skills massively. My biggest areas of improvement have been made in time management, priority management and communication and I have no doubt this was due to being busy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My job had a lot of responsibility and a busy workload came with it. These developed my skills massively. Vital content was constantly under my control meeting vital business deadlines was always occuring. My biggest areas of improvement have been made in time management, priority management and communication skills such as conference calling and this was due to working on such large scale projects with big importance.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Going back to final year at uni I almost have no worries. The skills, knowledge and practive throughout my placement have developed me more than any other year. Experiencing my study area first hand has left me very confident in my future and find this placement invaluable to my personal development.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My close team were very sociable and in the office was always good to have general conversation with the people around you. I made great friends with my team and manager which I will take with me after working here. The wider team and office is not as fun all the time, with little extra activities occurring outside of work there is not much time spent as a wider office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation through recruitment was well organised, with good communication via email about different stages. Communication of actual job roles and responsibilities was unclear until the very day of the interview which is not ideal in preparation. When working here, the placement could have a bit more work done to it to encourage further development whether that was factory visits or wider business exposure opportunities.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was some training that took place regarding skills such as presentation but that was almost it. I think there is room for improvement but with a new process in place I think this is now more of a focus for the next recruits. Never the less, my job role provided enough development.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is now a graduate scheme being introduced than now provides more of a prospect for the future. There is little communication about this still so therefore is not clear as of yet. I would happily come back if the opportunity arose and think that they should encourage this more.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was little social scene between the students but just depended on the group. There were more little groups rather than a collective but this was still good to make good relationships with people. If you are willing to get involved the scene could easily be very sociable with them

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is reasonable in the immediate area. Obviously being close to london increases the price dramtically along with pubs and clubs. The local town however is completely affordable for daily activity and outings etc and never caused any problems when thinking what to do when out of work.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is not that strong in the immediate area around, however you are close to watford and london which provides enough nightlife to enjoy. All accessible by train and therefore is easy enough to get around to these areas if living locally. The area is good for pubs but not clubs

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are very little opportunities after work. There is no facilities neraby which means there is no activities such as sports teams or anything like that. There is definitely room for it, it is very hard to get the uptake for activities to make it worth people's time and sometimes money.
