The Role
Really enjoyable experience and definitely something I am glad to have done.
At Vauxhall you are not seen as an intern but as a full time employee which means you feel valued on a daily basis.
My colleagues are very helpful whenever advice or support is needed. There is a lengthy handover period in the role with the previous undergrad which provides excellent guidance and means that you need less support going forward.
I feel I have the perfect balance of work; I am always busy but not to the level were it becomes too stressful and I cannot complete all of my work.
I am given lots of responsibility on my placement. I am the main point of contact for one of the units for anything financial and continuously trusted with tasks.
The skills I have developed will be essential in future roles and when applying for graduate jobs.
The Company
My office isn't the most fun as people are busy but there are always friendly people to talk to and other interns around.
The placement has been in place for many years so the structure of the placement is very well organised
The company have invested in me through the time of colleagues offering support and the two month handover from my predecessor.
Subsidised/Company Gym
I would certainly consider working at Vauxhall in the future.
The Culture
There are 20 undergraduates at the Ellesmere Port plant and we socialise outside of work as well as at lunch times. I live with 3 of the undergraduates which makes socialising easier.
I chose to live in Chester which can be expensive for food and drinks for the north of England. But Ellesmere Port is closer to the site and much cheaper in general if you are on a tighter budget.
Chester has lots of bars to go to, the clubs aren't the best but Liverpool is near by if you want to go on a better night out.
I go to the gym on site with a few of the undergrads afterwork and we also play 6-a-side football some weeks.
