The Role
I feel the placement has been valuable mainly because of how it has given me the business exposure I don't receive as a computer science student. The work has been varied, but the workload can vary a lot between having loads and having nothing to do.
You are valued as an employee. The work you do is appreciated and I am not expected to do more than I can handle.
Very rarely is there someone not there to ask for a hand.
Some of the time I was super busy lots of work to do, but there are occasions where there just wan't much to do and it is just suggested to do some training on the learning portal.
You are treated as a real employee here, You are given a reasonable amount of responsibility with parts of projects that are reliant on you completing the work in a timely manor and to a high standard.
I think only really the work ethic that's evolved form the placement will help with my degree since this placement has been completely different from my course as uni. However in terms of future prospects the whole process of just getting a placement and knowing how to behave in a business environment will be very beneficial.
The Company
Quieter than expected. But people are helpful and you quickly get to know the people around you. Everyone is super friendly.
Very well organised. It's a good system of learning your role and you quickly settle in. You're taught by the person who previously had your job. But prepare for death by PowerPoint in the first 2 weeks. There are presentations from lots of people you will never even see again.
There were some excel and presentation training in the beginning of the placement but, there could have been a few more during the year.

Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I think very unlikely, they only seem to hire the odd undergrad and it seems to be that it's simply dependent on their availability. This is for IT anyway.
The Culture
Yeah, there are about 100 undergrads and basically a freshers week during the 2 week handover. Lots of events to get to know everyone. Couple of events during the year christmas party, quizes etc
I commuted from home so only petrol cost for me
There's quite a few pubs and a Yates'. No real club scene any more. Although it's only a short train from Luton to London and a few other towns.
Yeah there were always a few events going on. With so many undergrads there was often something happening on weekends
