    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A really enjoyable year. I learnt a huge amount and Vauxhall where excellent at helping to develop all the undergraduates.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremley valued by all my colleagues, especially my manager who would try to get me involoved in as much stuff as possible.

  • I was given lots of support from my manager and he was always available to answer any questions if needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As with most jobs it fluctuated throughout the month having very busy periods and quieter periods but generally always had something to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibility, you are doing real jobs that are needed by Vauxhall. However personally I would have liked a bit more responsibility, but in such a large orgnaisation that could sometimes be difficult.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Hugely, I honestly believe I have learnt more this year than I have so far in my 2 years at university and these employability skills will undoubtly help me in my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good fun, can always have a good laugh in the office aside from work.

  • Excellent, so many undergraduates.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was training provided at the beginning of the year and my manager was excellent at helping me to develop me and my skills so that my work became valuable to the organisation.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Poor - there are a few graduates recruited every year however seeing there are over 80 undergraduates per year, future employment prospects seem unlikely.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes as there are so many undergraduates there are always nights out and parties organised. Also there was regular football, rugby and golf matches organised.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It varies depending on where you want to live, however Luton isnt the nicest place to live. However there is a great social life and st albans, watford and london are only a short trip away.

  • Not great, however only 20 minutes from central London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes loads ! Football 2 or 3 times a week, rounders tournaments, rubgy matches etc.
