    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Its one of the best experiences I have had till now. Its definitely one of the best places where you can settle down with a good team and get a global exposure on the other hand.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Being a part of a nice team, at times I felt I could have been patted more on my back for the work.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Guidance was provided at each and every step of IBM. This was made sure by giving a Professional Development Manager with a Task Manager who looks after our career choices and how we make the most out of our placement.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was pretty flexible with things. Working late at times was a part of my job but I thoroughly enjoyed doing that.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I thought a little more responsibility could be added to my placement. Though at times I was maxed out with work, I think it could be beneficial to have a little more. Probably adding more client exposure can be helpful during our placement.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Professional experience should be a must in every student's degree. And I strongly believe in this only after working at IBM now for more than 10 months.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed but filled with work. Being flexible was a key.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • As I said a lot of other stuff I think can be added to it. Just because most of the placement guys enjoy through their free time doesn't mean that some who want to learn more should be left behind.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Investment could be done a little more in terms of client exposure or responsibilities. However, on an overall scale the experience has been enriching and memorable one.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Being in an international student, its really tough for people like us who need to be sponsored a visa. The number of interns joining back as grads are already very less and the visa issue demotivates us more even though we really want to come back and join the firm.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good socials were being organised from time to time to make networking possible. On a bigger scale, Careers Academy, Round Table meetings and Lunch & Learn sessions were organised to increase our social network.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • More than average , if not expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Options were available but more things could be done probably on a bigger scale.

    3/5
