    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The job role was enjoyable as I got to work as part of a team of 5 interns (and there were plenty more in my office). I enjoyed the fact that this was one of the most technical roles and I was in constant 1-to-1 contact (phone and email) with managers of international companies.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Highly valued. Resolved ~200 business technical issues and made up a significant proportion of support for the product.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 2 weeks of initial training and then thrown in at the deep end. Support was given throughout the year and was always available.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • If I was not working on client issues, I was building testing servers or helping others. There was always something to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • High. Made up 1/5 of the student team which is ~1/2 the support for this product in the UK. In direct contact with clients which are paying the company millions each year, one on one.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It will assist my knowledge of databases and server architecture. Mostly the workplace skills gained and working full time.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Quiet and relaxed. No problems with talking with others or going for a coffee. People we genuine. The design could be more appealing though - very functional and linear.

  • No complaints.

    5/5
