    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Pendragon, my experience at the company is so much better than I originally had thought it would be. You have the responsibility throughout to ensure that you get the most out of the experience, with the help and guidance to support you every step of the way. The environment in which you work is fantastic, everyone is really friendly and make a big effort to ensure that you feel part of the team. I have never once felt like a volunteer. This made my experience here very enjoyable and valued.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From day one in the company my colleagues treated with me with the same respect as everyone else, I have felt much appreciated by everyone within the company, not just my department. I feel a lot of time has been invested in me being there. I have never been ask to make cups of tea!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My colleagues at Pendragon have supported me greatly from my first day. They introduced me to the company and involved me in lots of various products. After a month in the company, they were giving me my own responsibilities to liaise and communicate with people internally and externally to the business. This responsibility so soon made me feel extremely valued by my colleagues as I knew they trusted me with big projects, and were always there to support me whenever I needed it. Due to me being an undergraduate during my placement, my colleagues went out of their way to offer support where they could to help on my university work outside of work. They showed a keen interest on the topics I was studying at university in order to provide me with work that will be beneficial to me on my return to university.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The days flew by, I was always kept busy from the start of my placement. If one task was finished, there was always something else for me to do, even if it meant switching to a different area of the department.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility from the start, although I didn’t have my own projects until a month into the placement, I was given the responsibility of being part of some big projects for the company and ringing people internally and externally and getting familiar with the company’s contacts. After the first month, I was given lots of my own responsibility and projects, knowing that guidance and support was there if I needed it.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Everything I have learnt I believe will help me massively in the future, especially due to the fact my leader was interested in my university course and therefore tried to make everything I did within the company relevant to my course. The skills I learnt are ones that you cannot learn in a university environment, this meaning I can take on these new skills and apply them in my final year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is great. Everyone is extremely friendly and relaxed. It is the kind of office environment you want to part of. Not to mention there is an endless supply of sweets!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The company was extremely organised. The projects that I would be responsible for were planned before I had even got there. I started off for the first few weeks in PR and Events, as my marketing leader had just taken the role, after a few weeks and I was settled in, I moved over to the marketing department where I instantly had work to be doing. Overall I think my department were much organised for my arrival and my workload once I had arrived.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The opportunities were there and they did everything they could to ensure I made the most of them.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. The graduate scheme looks great and something that I would definitely want to apply too. The prospect of £50,000 within 3 years would appeal to everyone, but the route to get there is great and would be sure to help me develop as a person.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • My fellow placement students were really friendly and met up on a few occasions, although I don’t feel we made the most of it. Colleagues rarely met up, but they made the most out of occasions such as Christmas parties to go on nights out.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pendragon is situated just outside Nottingham, so there are various places you can live that are cheap in the surrounding areas such as Hucknall. Pricing is not a problem for the student budget. Nottingham also has lots of student life, so socialising is great in the area.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • You can’t beat the Nottingham nightlife as it is a very student influenced area, it is only a half hour commute from work and it is where many people on my placement have chosen to live.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are plenty of opportunities outside of work to get involved in, although work does not promote these, it is more of a self-find opportunity.

    3/5
