The Role
really enjoyed my time this summer. i met loads of interesting people and had a project that actually made an impact --> so much responsibility from day 1
everyone in mars is really friendly. apart from that though, they really value your opinion and actually implement the changes you suggest to them --> can't imagine seeing this in a different company
i had a line manager throughout my internship that was there for me for anything i needed and really helped me when i needed to come up with my personal development plan
at the beginning, until i was properly given the brief of my project i was not too busy. but i was advised to use that time to go and meet people from the company and that's what i did! once i had my project it was all busy!
my project was to improve the online trading content of all Mars chocolate products. and given that this content was in the website of big retailers like Tesco and Morrison's, that is great responsibility!
understanding how businesses works and how everything is connected is really helpful for my degree. in addition, people from the business suggested what modules i could do this year that will help me with my work once i graduate which is really helpful
The Company
the office is very friendly and the fact that is open plan is amazing! everything is done in projects which i really enjoyed!
there was an intern manager that was really helpful with anything we wanted and really explained the structure of the internship - only thing is that i would have wanted to have known more about my placement and where i would be earlier on.
i reckon this company is one of the best for personal development - and thats why i gave a 10! they really focus on two development areas that you have and give you projects in order to tackle these development areas. they also sent me to a training course for resilience which i really enjoyed
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
with the grad scheme you progress very quickly and they give you great opportunities to develop. i really want to get the grad scheme with them!
The Culture
we had a really strong intern community and we all organised nights out, together with the grads of the other years!
cost of living was not as high as i was living with my brother but i took the train in every day so that added a bit to the costs! socialising, we were going out in london so i guess that is quite a high cost but an expected one
we worked in slough but a lot of us lived in london! nightlife in london is great!
we went go-karting a few times and one time paint balling with everyone. mars also subsidises some tickets so we went to a few football matches
