    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved my placement here. The associates are really engaging and there are so many opportunities to learn. It creates a really great atmosphere for work and motivates you to get up in the morning and come to work

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel valued. It takes some time to garner respect among associates but with hard work and plenty of opportunities to connect with your colleagues, once you get there it is like working as part of a family.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and development structure is excellent here. A lot of effort has been put into structuring the development but a lot of it is within your own control. There is always guidance but the real benefits come from making changes yourself.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy. There are occasional lulls but the spare time you have can be spent on self improvement and spending more time in the factory talking to people means you can learn a lot.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Plenty. I volunteered for most of it or seized opportunities to give a bit more whether that was covering for someone who was away or assisting with investigations.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There are critical skills that they are looking for you to develop as part of your time with the company. These are universally applicable in University and business and the ones that I focussed on will undoubtedly help me in both.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Pleasant. Lots of talking among teams and easy to approach one another for a conversation or advice about project collaboration. This created a very relaxed atmosphere but it definitely made it easier to find out who people were.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There's a devoted team who sends out all the documents and communications for the placement. I only had to chase for details a couple of times.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots. This is one of the best companies I have worked for in term of development structure. It is robust and evident that it is working with a clear plan for the development of future talent.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only placement student at my site and even I managed to get around and socialise with the other interns/placement students while I was there.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Inexpensive. Cheaper than where I am studying.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reasonable nightlife. I didn't spend a huge number of nights going out due to weekend plans but there was definitely enough things to do and places to go.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Absolutely. These are mostly independently organised among associates but there are definitely options.

    4/5
