    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The tasks I was given varied greatly from day to day. The practical work was really good to gain an insight into the flavour industry. The downside would have to be that as a student I tended to get the boring tasks aswell such as cleaning!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel valued but by some were better at showing their appreciation than others.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I did receive support and guidance because the job was toldly new to me and I was using skills and technical equipment i'd never used before therefore in order to complete my work i did need a ceratin degree of training about the industry.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I feel I have been kept very busy, sometimes ridiculously busy in a very pressured environment which could be hard to handle.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During big projects work was delegated to me but I was given responsibility to look after stock control and order and despatch samples. The level of responsibilty varied depending on the scale of project really.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definately think i'll use the skills and training i've picked up after uni but i'm not to sure about how many of my practical skills will be used in my final year because my uni course is mainly food based not beverage.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was ok, I would say I got on with some team members better than others though.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The company has been doing placements for many years so I just fitted straight in and they were prepared for me.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Obviously without this opportunity I wouldn't have learnt anything about the flavour industry or beverages but from a training point of view as a student I wasn't allowed to go on a training courses and visit other sites which I feel would have benefitted me.

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company is a great company to work for with opportunities around the world, I would never say never about going back but I would maybe like to work in a different department or country.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene wasn't great but the company does take on a few students so living arrangements were easy.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area isn't the best to live in because of the lack of social life but from a cost perspective renting and lifestyle was cheap.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Sadly it was pretty much...what nightlife?! Havehill only has pubs to offer but cambridge and Bury aren't too far away if you drive and they have a much better nightlife scene.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes I joined the gym!

    3/5
