    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. The culture at work is great, with lots of fun events happening at the office which make coming into work really enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Fully part of the team, not treated as an intern or temporary employee at all.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support whenever needed, with the feeling that there is no question too stupid to ask. Support from both my manager and from the Talentum team who look after its interns and grads.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Varies from day to day - overall, busy but not too busy to be stressful or too much to cope with.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots of responsibility, as much as full time / permanent employees. But also lots of support if needed.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills for life - learned an excellent range of skills such as teamwork, independent work, leadership, and a great knowledge of the field.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really fun, loads of internal events happening as you come into work - more or less an event every week - e.g. talks by guest speakers, fun internal events hosted by vendors or by the O2 Events team, competitions etc. Around the office the atmosphere is nice and relaxed with pool tables round the office and casual dress code, nice and informal while still encouraging its employees to be hardworking.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Beforehand not very well, with our job roles not being made clear to us, only the department that we were in, but once we started the internship everything ran a lot more smoothly and seemed well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot in training us, not just day to day on the job, but also by running workshops for us to extend our knowledge on certain areas, and by encouraging us to shadow other areas of the business if we wanted to.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Really appealing, would definitely apply to O2 for a future career after uni.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, really good social scene, with a facebook group of interns and grads set up to organise social events. This is a good way to network with other teams and departments at work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • In Slough there is not exactly lots to do when socialising, so any events for after work are difficult. The surrounding areas are good for socialising, eg Windsor, Reading, London but can be more expensive.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is no nightlife in slough itself but most people live in surrounding town e.g. Windsor, Reading, London and commute in, which is easy to do and these areas all have good nightlife.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes - a project called Think Big gives employees loads of opportunities to employees to volunteer in the community in lots of different ways. However, not many social clubs outside of work e.g. sport societies.

    3/5
