About You
I really enjoyed the whole experience - meeting fellow participants, Teach First professionals, current participants of the Teach First cohort
I felt very valued, both by members of Teach First staff, and by members of staff at the placement school
We received a lot of guidance and support, both from Teach First and from staff members at the placement school we taught at
I think the skills I developed in this placement will be more relevant for the wider working world, rather than being particularly beneficial academically
The Company
Insight was pretty well structured, we were given a timetable of the plan for the 2 weeks, right down to the hour, and very rarely did it deviate from the plan
The general atmosphere was good, very positive - you really got the sense that Teach First staff genuinely believed in the mission to tackle educational inequality
Teach First provided a lot of sessions on personal development, to the extent that I felt like it almost deviated from the purpose of Teach First and the insight programme. Additionally, it would have been better if we were given a little more responsibility and allowed to teach more lessons than just one
We only got the chance to teach one hour of lessons in pairs, so it didn't feel like the full teaching experience
Very much. We had a whole week of presentations and activities dedicated to this
Pretty valuable, as I have decided to apply for the Teach First Leadership Development Programme
Everything Else
I was paid 500 for 2 weeks
We got an opportunity to "network" with various members of Teach First staff at the last day, and throughout the 2 weeks we got to speak with various employees
It was very social, and people quickly formed friendships as you lived together in the same accommodation
Not really, it seemed most people on the LDP had very little free time
Yes, it was a great experience
