    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed working on the tasks I was given. I felt like I could contribute to the business and that my ideas and suggestions were taken on board by senior management.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone I worked with was very friendly and made me feel at home. I was placed at site which is facing closure and although everyone was going through a difficult time they were very welcoming and gave me all the support and guidance I needed.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All senior management were very supportive and always available if I had any questions are concerns. They were all approachable and friendly and I felt like I was able to go to them for guidance whenever I needed it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were very very hectic whilst during others I was struggling to find things to do. However those days were few and were mainly towards the end of my placement when all of the substantial tasks had been completed.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility for some of my managers day to day reporting tasks as well as covering for colleagues whilst they were on annual leave.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training I received on Excel will definitely help me in my degree. Also the communication and people management skills I was able to develop will only be helpful in later life.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was in a difficult position due to the uncertainty in everyone's future. However this did not hinder it from being a friendly place to work in and I always looked forward to seeing everyone in the office.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had a few problems with HR during my internship and I felt like important information was not communicated in the appropriate manner. However my manage worked had to make sure that the tasks I was set were substantial enough to last the full 10 weeks and that I had everything I needed to complete these tasks.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was required to attend an induction day and to complete some online training but this was the limit of any personal training.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for Rolls-Royce in the future however I (and other interns) have heard nothing about this even though we were told we would have heard by now. Again, I feel let down by HR,

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only intern at the site however I kept in touch with some interns at other sites and we met a couple of times. There was no social scene between colleagues at work.

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from my university accommodation (1 hour each way) so can't really comment on the area I worked in.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I did not live in the area I worked in so can not comment on the nightlife.

    1/5
