  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There are a lot of opportunities within the company on various streams. The company is flexible in terms of what interns can do.

  • Most colleagues are very welcoming and helpful but some ignored my emails and phone calls.

  • The support is there when I ask for it but I do not ask very often.

  • Too busy on the second half of the internship.

  • Quite significant

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very much. I have built up technical knowledge about RR products and developed a more mature mind when making engineering decision.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People have meetings often therefore a lot of people are not around their desks most of the time. Majority of the people work independently and do not chat or socialise during work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • No laptop until week 6. Luckily a colleague had a spare one that I could use. Another intern had no password nor laptop for 1.5 weeks so he could not get on with his work. I did not get my workers badge until the 4th day of work.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I went on two one day course and I went on a business trip to Isle of Wight, most cost were reimbursed.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good socializing among interns because we all live in the Derby Uni Student accommodation hall

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Hall is expensive (£100/week) but the salary is enough to cover it.

  • The music is not great
