    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This placement provided me with both enjoyment as well as challenges. Due to the short nature of the placement I wasn't allowed access to a lot of programmes which meant my workload was pretty limited. I feel if it was a longer placement I would have enjoyed it more as I could have access to variety of jobs.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As my role was in the managerial sector it was always going to be difficult coming into a new team, but I felt from day 1 that everyone tried to help me as much as possible. Everyone bought into what I was trying to do and I felt that I had made a lot of connections whilst working within our small team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor gave me as much support as I needed at any point. He also tried to push me into my own thinking, and use my initiative rather than relying on other people, which I though was pretty amazing to say I was only there for 10 weeks.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • To be honest I could have done with more work on a day to day basis. This was partly down to the fact it was only for 10 weeks like already mentioned. Overall I had things to do for the most part, but I believe that I could have been given a little more to just push me along.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My whole project was about rolling out a new practice of working, and throughout I pretty much ran the project. I had help from my line manager and other team managers but I was the overall manager of the project at all stages

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the skills learnt will be very useful for further projects and presentations at university, but also going into work the skills I learnt will be priceless. I firmly believe that my presenting and influencing skills have developed hugely and these are key in the managerial role.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was generally good, I got on with a lot of people. But whilst I was there a lot of the team was going through restructuring and had a busy schedule, which obviously changed how the team was behaving at points.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The work placement was set up brilliantly, there was a tiny hiccup at first with login details, but these after everything was brilliant.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • With regards to training, I was allowed to complete any relevant further training, and also I attended off site visits to further develop my understanding. For a 10 week placement I couldn't have asked for more.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have applied for a graduate job, and I would suggest anybody who was thinking about applying for such vacancy do it, because it is a great company to work for, with lots of opportunity.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there wasn't any other placement students in my department it is hard to say, I believe if I was there for a longer period I would have got a better experience.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was very cheap, and there are numerous places you can go for things to do.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/a

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are lost of things to do out of work, whether it be the gym, rowing, cycling, rugby, etc. Also some of our team played five a side football.

    4/5
