The Role
Overall my internship has been good. The company is fantastic and I really have enjoyed my time here. The people are great and my team have been excellent.
To a great extent - the have been positive about my work!
Support from my team has been fantastic. From my line manager it has been ok.
Busy enough to keep me going! I was given three projects to begin with but now I have more. However, not too busy that I feel overwhelmed! I have a do-able workload.
I was given responsibility for running some events and it was great to be trusted with something like that, especially as an intern!
My business acumen has improved and I think just being in a "real" working environment has helped develop many skills, such as communication and team work. It's been a really great and enjoyable insight into FMCGs.
The Company
Fantastic. People say that Mars is a really great company to work for, which upon hearing that, I was a bit skeptical but the atmosphere is really good. I work in the Petcare office and associates can bring their dogs to work which I LOVE!
Overall, quite well. However my line manager was away at a conference for the first four days which meant I was delayed in starting my projects and left with little to do and not a great deal of guidance for my first few days.
I was assigned a competency to work on which formed part of my Personal Development Programme. All Mars associates have a PDP, from interns to general managers, and the company really tries to develop people for leadership roles.

Very appealing. Mars have seven graduate schemes and the majority of them take graduates from any discipline. I'd love to come back as a graduate. They have been running graduate programmes since 1952 and many of the leaders within the business started out on a Mars graduate programme so there's definitely room to develop and progress within the company.
The Culture
With things like this, I say things are as good as you make them. Due to the rural location, after work drinks haven't happened but I go to the cinema, out for dinner and out for drinks with the other interns often.
Nottingham is so cheap for rent, I am paying £275/month which includes all bills.
Good selection of bars and restaurants in Nottingham
There's different sports' clubs but I didn't join any - cycling, rounders, football, running etc.
