The Role
I did not enjoy my initial placement therefore asked for a transfer which happened, and I was transferred to a really good department and given continuous support in a great team.
I also received good feedback from my line managers and colleagues, where I tried to get involved in anything I could.
I was given great support when needed by the Training team who deal with placement, but the support given by my managers was excellent. I was given responsibility for mini projects but given support when needed.
It depends on how busy the department was, mine was especially therefore something always to be getting on with.
On the projects I was given, I was given alot of responsibility. I think I was particularly lucky in this case, as I also had the support there aswell.
I aim to do Project Management modules at university and also pursue this as career so no doubt everything I have learnt whilst on placement will aid me for the future.
The Company
I got on really well with my colleagues and it was a geat team of people, therefore the atmosphere was generally great, but stressful at times.
As said before, I was not put into an appropriate placement initially therefore asked to move. But everything else was fine, with the assessment day information good and informative. The only issue was that you didn't know really where you were going to be placed as such so tried to find out as soon as possible.
I was particularly lucky in this area as was basically treated like one of the fully time staff, where I was able to attend practitioner type courses for Project Planning and EVM. There aren't, from what I saw, many opportunities for undergrads to go on courses as they are mainly open to employees and grads.

AW do a Graduate scheme, similarly run to the Undergraduate scheme but with more emphasis on training, therefore a good prospect for a Graduate.
The Culture
There were quite a few undergrads so there was a good social scene organised by AWASA (an organisation run by Apprentices and Undergrads), along with alot of Graduates aswell.
It was pretty standard living rates, not as cheap as students houses though and not too expensive to go out.
Socialising was ok but Yeovil is not really the heart of entertainment of the South West..
AWASA organise alot of events to get involved with, along with the Graduate association.
