    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The long hours can be difficult and I also felt under pressure from staff to perform in terms of sales, especially at the beginning. However, as I grew more used to the job I have enjoyed it more, especially in terms of meeting lots of people day to day.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were a mixed bunch; most days it was good fun and there were lots of laughs, though at times, the stress levels were high and this could affect the branch atmosphere. For me it was strange to be in an all male office being the only girl.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The set-up of the placement is great in terms of guidance - there are many different people above you to speak to if you have an issue or question. I even received one to one sales training.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sometimes the branch could be too busy and stressful, but generally I felt I was always kept busy so always learning new things.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At the beginning, you have to learn fast. Towards the end it becomes possible to 'run the day' which is a big responsibility. Interns are treated like normal members of staff - so no making tea/photocopying all day for sure!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training was excellent - we recieved a folder which covered all the information we needed and set us clear goals and targets. The things I have learnt will be very useful for my CV in terms of sales, customer service, and marketing in particular, as well as many other things as it is such a varied placement.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally the atmosphere is fun and there are lots of laughs. However when under pressure with lack of time/cars, it could become stressful and difficult.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement set-up was very impressive. The way the training is organised and run is faultless and I genuinely enjoyed going to training classes with peers at the same level. The 'folder' we had to complete was really useful and the managers and people above us were also well trained to look after interns along with other management trainees.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that the company did genuinely want me to stay with them after the placement and have invested time and money into training me correctly and effectively.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is excellent opportunity to move up in the ranks quickly if you work hard at Enterprise Rent A Car. I felt that I would probably suit a different type of job more relevant to my degree in the long run but that is not to say that someone else wouldn't really enjoy it and want to continue.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I got along with those in my branch but didn't socialise with them outside of work. There were a few area nights out, and there was a seasonal party at a nice hotel which was well organised and good fun. To be fair, it was probably the right amount as the hours are already long and you probably don't want to spend the weekend socialising with your colleagues when you see them all week.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was able to live at home so could save money - most places would have a branch within driving distance so you can live wherever you like within reason to work at Enterprise.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in my area was reasonable.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few emails about charity work and some nights out with the area staff.

    2/5
