The Role
Excellent placement. Very skilled co-workers and was given freedom to explore research and support when needed.
A lot of people take their annual leave in August so I was stuck finding things to keep myself busy for about a week until they came back
The Company
Good co-workers
The work itself was well defined, but assistance was neither offered nor provided for temporary accommodation by HR. I was luck find a room in the next town before I started, as I would not have been able to take position otherwise
Trained in science/theory of synchtrons, and in relevant computer packages
Subsidised Canteen
Diamond is dependent on STFC funding, and as civil servants are very affected by the budget deficit.
The Culture
Only met one other placement student in passing. It is a very big compound and didn't really run into anyone.
Around oxford, so ok
Didn't go out, so no idea!
a fair few football and other sports teams always wanting students to join in.
