    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Vacation Scheme was very informative and enjoyable, however due to the assessments throughout both weeks it did get quite tiring. However we were always rewarded after an assessment with a social, which was great!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone is really nice and most people are approachable, at times I felt my work was really valued which gives a sense of accomplishment! My trainee buddy was very nice to me as well as some of the other trainees.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot of continous support and guidance is given throughout the scheme, from presentations in the morning to practice groups in the afternoon. My Trainee buddy constantly checked that I was ok with the work/workload and gave me the support wherever required.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • More than in my studies, I think it has provided my with vital skills for my future job, it has shown me the kind of work commercial solicitors do and what my job could entail, furthermore having some experience in doing the work may give me an edge in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure of the vacation scheme was very good, there were lots of things to do and take part in. There were many events scheduled for us so that we could make the most of the vacation scheme. The presentations from a different department each morning were extremely insightful and informative as to the different practice groups and the kind of work they do.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere matched the kind of situation we were in, the practice groups were mostly quiet as people got on with their work, however people did approach you and say hello/ talk to you which was very nice! However the socials were extremely relaxed, I didn't feel like I was being assessed which was nice, and so was able to enjoy them fully.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Due to how short the placement is, I do not think they have enough time to invest in us to that extent, the introduction and training was limited to our time in the firm, however the work in the practice groups allowed me to develop my skills further.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was very real and informative as you are sitting with all of your potential colleagues and so are able to experience their day to day work which gives a great insight into the kind of work you will be expcted to do in the future. Everyone was very hardworking and committed.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Everyone was very nice and this was evident throughout the firm which gives a real insight into the culture of the firm, also speaking to many different people who can confirm gives a real insight

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for the vacation scheme, and only reimbursed for the induction day as it was in London, everyday commuting costs were not reimbursed (but I guess thats what the pay is for!)

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many opportunities of meeting other people at the socials (office drinks, lunch, other socials etc.) however it was mainly trainees (and only some of them [usually the same ones] as a lot were busy and so couldnt make it). The partner lunch was nice, but again only 3 partners, and so it would have been nice to meet a wider variety of people (i.e. associates) and more people! although consistency is nice too as you get to build stronger relationships with the same people which is really nice! (and probably better)

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Very good, fun and entertaining

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I found out about some of them

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • It was fun and is a real insight which is very important to help you decide if this is what you want.
