    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was in a team with many other Placement students and we each individually had our own strengths. We relied on each other. When you are spending 10 hours a day with your team I feel it is important that you work together and we was a really effective team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We had Month Plans every 4 weeks which outline where we could improve or where our strengths were. Members of my team was very helpful and knowledgeable and would always make time to help you if it was needed.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Particularly in the beginning but mainly due to time management. Hays provide resources to help manage time more effectively, but there is always something to be done.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Our job was to ensure that the Temporary members of staff were paid on each Friday, without us payment would often be missed which effects peoples livelihood. People was heavily reliant on myself and my team to meet targets.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As it was such a busy work environment I learnt many skills that can only be taught in the work place. The use of systems such as Oracle, Excel, Outlook along with Communication skills with Candidates and Clients and Time management skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We often went out on "Team nights out" which reflected well on the atmosphere in the office. As my team is also roughly the same age group we all had similar interests.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall it was very well organised. My manager is the most organised person I have ever met in my life.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Hays has a very thorough training program. Placement students are trained alongside permanent members of staff so are not at all trained differently. I really felt the benefit of the training throughout my year.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Every 4 weeks, providing we hit target we had drinks in the local pub and the first 5 was provided by the company as a reward. But other than that Victoria is a very expensive area compared to other places in London, however, as a team we still went out and socialised.
