The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my role, the people, and the year in general.
Got on really well with my team and was able to ask any questions. Treated me like a full-time employee.
Always able to ask questions, or ask for help. Have a mentor scheme too, so I knew that if I had any problems and I wanted to talk to someone I could.
Always had something to do, whether big projects or small, ongoing things. If I was busy it meant that the days went fast, and if I didn't have enough to do, I could always ask for work.
Was treated like a real employee with real responsibility, often went to visit our agencies in London for meetings by myself.
I have developed marketing skills in my role, which I will be able to use at University and jobs afterwards, but also just general office skills, and making connections, both internal and external with our agencies.
The Company
Chatty and friendly but not too distracting. There was a nice balance between undergrads/apprentices and full time employees.
As it is an established scheme everything has been thought of. The two week handover with the previous undergrad was very well organised, both in the days and after work for social events.
We had safe driver training, excel and presentation training, and the opportunity to shadow different departments. I also went to an ISBA Marketing course as Vauxhall is a member.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There is no official grad scheme, but if you have impressed and there is a position open when you graduate then you will be invited back for an interview.
The Culture
There are loads of us and because a lot of people move down to Luton then we all spend a lot of time together. There are apprentices too.
I worked at home so it was cheap for me! But Luton is fairly cheap to live in, but close to London.
Not great but because there are so many of us then it is still fun. There is also St Albans, Harpenden and London near.
There are opportunities for sports clubs, charity events and theatre trips.
