  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was thrown in at the deep end and have developed so much over my placement year. The training that I received at Hays was brilliant and has helped me build my personal confidence as well as my business acumen. Everyone has been so helpful and I have been able to get involved with different projects and given real responsibility.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I am always busy and there is never a quiet moment, but I love being in a fast paced and challenging environment. My time management and ability to prioritise has really been enhanced with this role as there is always something to do and deadlines/targets are essential.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had the responsibility of my own candidates, my own development and building my own reputation within the industry. I have also been selected as the first Talent Scout in the Midlands, which has given me the opportunity to head the recruitment process for the new placements students across the midlands. I have been involved with all telephone and face-to-face interviews as well as helping run the assessment Centres. This has given me so much involvement with Internal Recruitment at Hays and I love representing the Hays brand.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed my personal skills during my placement year, including my confidence, time management and business acumen. Also I have had an amazing insight into the world of specialist Recruitment at it's best! The fast paced and challenging industry has opened my eyes to Sales, Marketing, Finance/Budgeting, Business Development, HR...The list is endless. I feel that all of this experience will help me in my final year and I have shaped my dissertation question around the knowledge I have learnt.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My personal experience of Hays has run very smoothly, and next years placement programme is even better! There is a new structure and personal incentives all the way through. As well as this, the business is in growth and it is a brilliant opportunity to be within the company as it grows.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living just out side of Birmingham has bought down my cost of living but as it is a big City, the cost of going out is quiet high. Also travel into the city centre is expensive but Hays have provided me with a travel loan to help with this cost.
