    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A placement at Hays can be difficult and high pressure but despite that, it is really enjoyable. Because you are working with so many people and businesses and you make a difference to them, it is a really rewarding job. Hays is also a very sociable business to work in which makes the year really enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Because Hays is so sociable, you get to know your colleagues really well. The environment you work in also relies on you working as a team so you feel extremely valued as you are contributing as much as the people around you.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The training at Hays is brilliant, you start with a structured training regime and have two sets of training away from the office. Following that you are continually supported by colleagues and managers which means you are constantly learning but are never stuck.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • You are always extremely busy at Hays so do not expect a role where you have time to look out the window. This is tiring and can be hard work but it makes the days go extremely quickly and because the work is enjoyable, being busy is never a problem.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given full responsibility of my own recruitment desk on my placement which meant I was in control of my own actions and it was down to me to make my own money and hit my own targets, I made my own sales plans and worked out what I needed to do to be successful.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A placement at Hays is definitely a shock to the system because you are brought into the real working world very quickly. I have learnt a lot about the industry and the working world as well as skills I will use personally like the ability to communicate with various professionals and manage my time most effectively.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • You have professional and personal training to ensure you develop the best you can. Every month you will have a meeting one to one with your director to talk about what you have done and what else you can do which means you get the most out of the expererience as possible.
