About You
The right balance of hard work, useful information, and good fun.
I was very much treated as part of the department; being invited along to various department meetings and allowed to sit in on client calls really made me feel included.
My buddy was extremely enthusiastic and took care to explain things fully if I wasn't sure. My supervisor was also always happy to have a chat and to answer my questions. Other trainees around the firm were another excellent source of advice. Grad rec were also always on hand and available for a chat.
I learned a huge amount during the placement which I am sure will be invaluable down the line.
The Company
We received a detailed itinerary on the first day, with a half-day induction, lots of information sessions to hear about the different practice areas as well as several social activities. I would have liked to have a little more time to get on with work in my department, but there's a limit to how much you can squeeze into nine days.
Great atmosphere. The other placement students and trainees were easy to get along with and sociable. The atmosphere of the firm is good, and very friendly.
I feel that a lot of time, energy and thought went into the placement. There was certainly never a dull moment, and the people I worked with seemed genuinely interested in my development.
The opportunity to get to know trainees both in the office and at the socials was invaluable in giving me a very clear picture of what life as a trainee will be like. The trainees were always enthusiastic, but equally honest about the potential downsides of a career in City law.
Again, having so much exposure to people at different levels and attending various events gave me a clear indication of the firm culture. Additionally, the firm has a friendly and collegiate but hardworking culture which is readily apparent.
It has very much confirmed my ambition to pursue this career path.

I really enjoyed being able to chat with trainees in a more relaxed atmosphere at the socials.
The first social was great fun and a real ice-breaker. The meal at the end was fantastic, and a good last chance to pick trainees' brains before the interview! There weren't really 'networking' events, but the departmental information sessions were extremely useful.
Engaging and insightful talk on CSR opportunities. More informal chats with trainees and associates provided a good idea of what people get up to in their spare time.
Absolutely.
