About You
Had a great time on the placement in school. However, would have like to have taught more than two lessons during the week in school and feel the training sessions could have been condensed.
A lot of focus on developing ourselves and preparing ourselves for the LDP which was nice.
There was a lot of generic advice given in the training but it was hard to apply a lot of it in a classroom environment as they're all so different. Received a lot of help from the staff at the school as many of them were Teach First teachers themselves.
Feel a lot more prepared for the assessment centre for the LDP which I have in a couple of weeks. A lot more ideas for future teaching roles and feel more confident in the classroom.
The Company
The training sessions all had a specific aim. However, some seemed quite similar and repetitive.
Very friendly. positive and helpful. Was nice that most of us stayed in the accommodation and had meals together and stuff so there was a great team spirit.
A lot of developing skills and assessing personal qualities/strengths and weaknesses. A lot of guidance for the LDP assessment centre.
Met a lot of people who have completed the LDP - was very nice to hear about their experiences first hand. Good opportunity to decide if teaching would be a suitable career choice.
A lot of understanding the problem of educational inequality and Teach First's commitment to address it. All the staff seemed relaxed and fun.
I was pretty sure that I wanted to apply to the LDP but this has now confirmed it 100%.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for travel, accommodation was provided and was given meal vouchers.
Met lots of people who have completed the LDP and now worked in various roles within Teach First.
Free time on evenings to get to know each other through meals/drinks and things. Still had to do lots of lesson planning and things though so social time was limited.
Didn't really get told about any. Just found out that the LDP will be a lot of work at first so not much time for other activities.
Great insight into the programme and preparation for the LDP. Good opportunity to be able to teach lessons instead of just being a TA.
