    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a really interesting time seeing what life as a Teach First teacher would be like, and really enjoyed the camaraderie with the other participants and the Teach First teachers at the school I went to.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We almost had too much guidance, getting a sample of teaching strategies that we couldn't really apply without time to get to know the pupils in the classes we taught.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I came out feeling I will be much better able to think of creative ways to convey ideas.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Because the individual schools we went to were in charge of five of the 9 days of internship, the level of organisation varied a lot depending on which school you were at. The bits organised by Teach First directly were very structured.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Met some really nice people and had a really good time

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • All our days with Teach First themselves were highly focussed on our own development.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was really helpful to get a taste of some of the summer institute sessions and to get to speak to Teach First teachers at various points in their careers.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Travel expenses were reimbursed and we got lunch vouchers which were more than sufficient for the week - to the extent that on the last day lots of the participants went out for a meal together to useup our leftover vouchers

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was some time specifically allocated for networking at the end of the week, and there was a Q&A with the head of recruitment.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • It would have been nice if everyone had come to post-event social occasions, but really, we should have organised that better ourselves.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We got told about the opportunities for summer placements at linked companies, we didn't actually hear very much about which after-school activities the teach first teachers were involved in.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • It was a really interesting internship and persuaded me I wanted to get more involved with Teach First, but would have been useful even if I had decided the LDP wasn't for me

    5/5
