    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This placement was amazing - always great fun and something to keep me occupied.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked with lots of different colleagues, young and old, who all treated me with respect and each introduced me to their own functions within the department.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management was always around to answer questions. They frequently spoke to me to make sure I was OK and gave me interesting work.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given work from all around the business but told to prioritise. Hence I was extremely busy with lots of work but had a perfect balance since most work had long deadlines before due and managed to get it all done at my own pace.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was left alone at times when my managers thought I was responsible and trustworthy; a week into the placement. I loved it.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • So many skills, not enough time! Even though the placement was 14 months, I've learnt everything I need for the future and I'll be going back.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really friendly, chatting, amusing at times. Good times.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Placement was setup really well; from HR right through to my own colleagues. All knew why I was there, what I was doing and how valuable I was to the team.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I went on trips to other Rolls Royce branches in the UK to learn more about the company and attended lots of training courses externally with other colleagues.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • An excellent place to work; shame I didn't get the bonus, but I've been told it's huge for full-time employees!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of students and plenty to do in Bristol; clubs, pubs, supermarkets, etc.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bristol isn't too bad; cheaper than London but more expensive than up North. Overall, reasonable and affordable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lots of stuff to do in central Bristol, a short bus ride away from Rolls Royce in Filton.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty of leisure activies organised by Rolls Royce with students/other employees. Nights out frequently ranged (most of my team was in their 20's/early 30's!)

    3/5
