The Role
The work was interesting and the people there were fantastic it only looses stars because I was the only person of my age and really had not much of a thriving social life outside the work place
I felt really valued by the guys around me, they were friendly and welcomed me into their banters
It was more critique than guidance. You are left to your own devices and essentially expected to grow on your own and dive into the work with your own initiative, which is fine but to not have that initial guidance at the start is far too harsh.
There were days were work was dragging however, when I got more involved with the people, work never stopped, a good pace was kept
At the beginning not so much however after you've proven your competency your responsibility will also sky rocket!
It helped prepare for the storm expected in the final year. I came out with a lot of developed skills thanks to my experience that I could put to good use in my degree no doubt
The Company
Depended on who was in the office, when the bosses are out their is a light and comedic atmosphere, however when they were around on majority occasions you can tell there's high strung tension in the air
Work delegation left a lot to be undesired, the tasks were not well managed, there was a serious lack of priority management, everyone followed their own sense of priority, causing obvious conflicts of opinion. Being the student meant being the messenger and the messenger always gets shot
There was no formal training given to the students. However we were given the ability to move around and work with the other departments picking up a vast range of manufacturing technical skills and knowledge. Our colleagues invested a lot of time into training us themselves on their own accord, with them the experience became a real golden opportunity
Depends on who is still there. If offered it would be dependent on a a number of factors that would make me except the job.
The Culture
At work we all really got along well, however there wasn't much (if anything) going on outside the workplace. Everyone there was a family person, so the students were essentially left to themselves
Socialising was none existent and living costs was thankfully/luckily cheap, because of that I was able to survive on the small paycheck
What Nightlife?
The town was quite small and a bit run down. There wasn't anything to do there, to do something you had to drive into either towns next door.
