The Role
I found this quite boring personally as an intern and the jobs i was asked to carry out were very repititve. I did find that 12 weeks became a struggle and i wasnt sad to see it end.
I was always labelled the 'intern' and never really settled down with the people around me. A select few were friendly.
Very little support was ever given to me and i was more observing than given a chance to carry out anything myself.
I always had someone to follow around but i did not find this very entertaining and i was never given any real work to do.
No responsibility was given to me during my time at GM
I did take away some skills from observing how GM employees went about their work but i feel that i could have learned a lot more somewhere else
The Company
A dull atmosphere with not much excitement. This were very repetitive and it was very noticeable.
My university organised the set up very well but once i got to the company itself i was just told to join people and ended up watching what they did.
Not much was invested in me and they did not seem to offer any future placements so for this reason they didnt try and develop me too much.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
It is very unlikely that id ever want to enter this particular line of work but my lack of knowledge of the company employment does mean i dont know what they offer.
The Culture
It was fairly easy to socialise with fellow interns when we were together but we were separated on most occasions so didnt see them that much
Very cheap to live and socialise outside of work, this made the internship more pleasurable
Good nightlife with a lot things to do especially student nights where there was an opportunity to meet people
There were not many opportunities organised by the company but in the town itself there was plenty of sports and activities to do, whichever suited you.
