The Role
Working in a professional environment whilst continuously learning and improving my personal skills can only be a positive. I have currently been on placement for five enjoyable months and I already feel prepared for full time working life after graduation.
Coalters employ 29 individuals, because of the size of the company you are assigned meaningful, relevant and important responsibilities. There is nothing more rewarding than carrying out your own activities and seeing your hard work within projects implemented successfully.
My manager sits two seats away from my desk, he is very approachable and always helps me with any issues and problems I have struggled with.
Given realistic time frames for completion of projects.
I work in several different departments including sales, lettings, marketing and property management; I am assigned roles which vary making my job more interesting and helping me attain a broader skill set. I feel a valuable asset within the organisation and without my effort important tasks wouldn't be completed
Training, especially in the first couple of weeks and continuous on the job training has significantly enhanced my skill set making me feel prepared for final year of University and further.
The Company
Everyone in the office is enthusiastic and always prepared to help you, a great atmosphere to work in.
The property market is continuously changing and therefore my responsibilities at the start of the placement weren't clear. Jobs may arise unexpected at any time which I could get involved with.
I feel confident in my role at this moment in time, if I struggle with any responsibilities I know managers are keen to develop my skills to successfully complete tasks.

When I started placement I knew there was a possibility of being offered a job after graduation but I'm unsure if this is still the case. I have 7 months left of placement so I will be able to answer that question better towards the end of my placement.
The Culture
York is a fantastic place to live! I live a mile away from Coalters office in a reasonably priced property.
Fantastic clubs and bars, Saturday night especially.
Biggest downfall for me, I don't socialize a lot with my colleagues outside of work although I wish I did, everyone seems to be busy a lot of the time.
