    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There was never a dull moment working for Coalters. Although the position was marketing orientates, to an extent I was involved in all areas of the business. Not only did I enjoy hands on experience, but also worked with enthusiastic teams and driven staff. Coalters is not a huge business, it has around 30 employees. This gave me the opportunity to get to know my colleagues well and be involved throughout the business, alongside being given a great deal of responsibility.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was allowed to manage many of my own projects and was trusted with a great deal of responsibility when it came to marketing. This provided some very valuable experience to add to my CV and was a fantastic step to start my career on!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I couldn't have hoped for better hands on experience, as Coalters isn't a large, faceless organisation, working in their marketing department allowed me to see a project run from beginning to end across all areas and fields of the marketing sector, whether it was market research or writing copy for the website.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is a great place to work in, although we all know how to work hard and put in long hours I do feel that I have made some great friends on placement here. The office is always a happy place to come into. Every Friday people who have excelled win a prize and we even sometimes order lunch together, closing the office for an hour while we all enjoy a break!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was given extensive training with a month overlap with the previous placement student, this gave me a valuable insight to all departments within the business and allowed me to form a good idea of how the business worked, not just the marketing department. Throughout the year I had a clear program of tasks and enjoyed a great working relationship with my manager.
